German robotics and automation sales have already recorded positive figures worldwide in each of the past three years. In 2023, an increase of 13% was even achieved compared to the previous year, setting the bar quite high. The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) is forecasting a further four percent increase in sales for 2024. Despite times that are characterized by various challenges, a new sales record of 16.8 billion euros can still be expected. The Chairman of VDMA R+A, Frank Konrad, is confident in this context: "Our industry plays a decisive role as a key technology in overcoming a wide range of challenges such as demographic change, the transformation to climate neutrality and strengthening resilience and competitiveness. We are optimistic that the innovative strength of our member companies will help us to successfully overcome these challenges."
In addition to the increasing relevance of robotics for industry, other technologies are on the rise that will significantly change the way we work. Probably the most important in connection with robotics is the use of artificial intelligence. The application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in industrial automation enables advanced analytics, forecasts and adaptive control systems. By processing large amounts of data, machines can act more intelligently, detect anomalies and perform predictive maintenance, resulting in greater reliability and efficiency.
